About Us

Millway House is a former large family home, set in its own extensive grounds, and located in Weyhill, near Andover. Previously belonging to the Hartigan, then the Balding families, the house became a residential home in the 1980s, catering for people over the age of 65. Following an extension to the premises in 2008, Millway established itself as a high-quality nursing home.
While the building’s original purpose plays a major part in ensuring that Millway House retains the feel of a family home, it has been thoughtfully re-developed to provide well-appointed and modern spaces where residents can relax, socialise, and engage in their favourite pastimes, whilst receiving first-class nursing care which evolves with the changing needs of each individual. The home is fully accessible, with lift, wheelchair access, and bedrooms on all floors. Each of the 57 bedrooms includes a bed, wardrobe, drawers, side-table, and a washing facility, with 45 of them having ensuite facilities, and a few of them able to accommodate couples. Some of the rooms also include a balcony, direct garden access and garden views. Residents have internet access and the option of having a TV and telephone in their rooms, as well as bringing their own furniture.

The home has many communal areas and extensive, well-maintained grounds which offer a range of opportunities for leisure and activity. Communal spaces in the home such as the three lounges, two dining rooms, and café have been named following consultation with residents, and now reflect the history of the home, with artwork, information and photographs detailing past owners of the home and their winning horses exhibited in the bistro.

Situated at the heart of the local community, Millway House makes it their goal to ensure residents maintain their connection to the outside. They stay up to date with daily newspapers, Wi-Fi, and a post service, participate in outings, and receive visitors. The Millway House Team, together with their residents, are "one big family", and warmly welcome friends and families to come and visit at any time – including children and pets.

Millway House aims to keep residents active and independent, working with each resident’s family and care networks to ensure that they have a range of personalised activities support their mental and physical wellbeing, and can continue with lifelong hobbies and interests. Further, the home has two Activities & Wellbeing coordinators who plan, organise and lead a wide selection of events and an extensive weekly programme of activities, so there’s always something to look forward to, and everyone has plenty of choice in how to spend their time. From day trips to local places of interest in the home's minibus, to arts and crafts afternoons, from singers, petting zoos and falconers who come to visit, to themed days, plays and concerts, there’s something for everyone.

While Millway House does not operate set visiting times, and is open for visitors to come and see their loved ones at any time, it's recommended that you call ahead to arrange a visit if you’re considering a stay - just so that a member of staff is on hand to answer any questions.

Millway House was awarded Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) Accreditation in 2025, having designated Armed Forces Champions and trained staff to support and deliver the VFF framework.
