Overview
The Mews is a purpose-built bungalow offering permanent residential care for four younger adults aged 25 to 30 with learning and physical disabilities, including complex conditions and enduring health issues. The focus is on fostering independence, developing daily living and decision-making skills, and achieving positive outcomes.
Everyone is actively involved in decisions about the service, from attending meetings to interviewing new staff, contributing to training, and choosing menus and bedroom décor. There are opportunities to engage in various activities, connect with the local community, and use facilities like a private hydropool, a nearby stable, and amateur theatre. The people we support can also attend college courses in subjects such as numeracy, literacy, and cookery.
The home is wheelchair accessible, with ceiling tracking in all bedrooms and shared spaces designed to meet diverse needs, such as height-adjustable tables and work surfaces. These features support skill development and independence. Additional facilities include a sensory room and a large garden.
The dedicated and enthusiastic team prioritise the well-being of residents and maintain strong relationships with professionals and multidisciplinary teams, who often remark on the home's warm atmosphere.
