Residential & Dementia Care – Chesterfield, Derbyshire
About Elm Lodge
Elm Lodge Care Home is a welcoming residential care home located in the village of Newbold, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Situated within a quiet cul-de-sac, Elm Lodge provides a peaceful and supportive environment for individuals who require residential care, including older adults over the age of 60 and those living with dementia.
Elm Lodge is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for up to 46 bedrooms, offering comfortable accommodation and personalised care tailored to the needs of each resident. Our aim is to create a warm and supportive environment where residents feel safe, respected, listened to, and truly at home.
We understand that moving into a care home is a significant step for residents and their families. Our team works closely with residents and their loved ones to make this transition as smooth and reassuring as possible. From the moment someone joins Elm Lodge, we focus on maintaining dignity, promoting independence, and supporting wellbeing.
Our dedicated staff team is committed to enhancing the quality of life for every resident. We aim to create an environment where residents can enjoy companionship, comfort, and meaningful daily experiences while receiving the support they need.
Our Accommodation and Environment
Elm Lodge provides 46 well-appointed bedrooms, offering residents a comfortable and secure place to live while receiving professional care and support. The home has been designed to provide a calm, welcoming atmosphere where residents can feel part of a supportive community.
Residents have access to the garden area where they can enjoy fresh air, relax outdoors, and overlook nearby allotments. Outdoor space provides a peaceful setting that supports wellbeing and allows residents to enjoy nature and the changing seasons.
Within the home, residents are encouraged to take part in activities that promote engagement, companionship, and enjoyment. Activities help residents maintain interests, social connections, and a sense of purpose in daily life.
Elm Lodge is located a short drive from Chesterfield town centre and benefits from excellent transport links, with bus stops just a three-minute walk away, making it easily accessible for families and visitors.
Our Philosophy of Care
At Elm Lodge, our philosophy is centred on delivering compassionate, person-centred care that recognises the individuality of every resident.
Each resident has their own life experiences, preferences, and needs. Our care plans are tailored to reflect these differences and to ensure residents receive support that respects their wishes and promotes independence.
Our philosophy is guided by four key principles:
Person-Centred Care – recognising each resident as an individual and tailoring care to their needs and preferences.
Safety and Comfort – ensuring residents feel secure, supported, and comfortable in their home environment.
Community and Companionship – promoting friendships, social interaction, and a sense of belonging within the home.
Dignity and Respect – treating every resident with kindness, compassion, and respect.
Our Belief About Residents
At Elm Lodge, we believe residents should never be defined solely by their age or condition. Every person has lived a meaningful life and deserves to be recognised for their experiences, relationships, and achievements.
This belief is reflected in the words that guide our approach to care:
“we believe residents are no longer written off, no longer a strain on services, no longer just a woman with dementia, but a mother who was many great things to many people.”
This philosophy reminds us that every resident has a story that deserves recognition and respect.
Working Together with Families and the Community
Elm Lodge believes that the best care is delivered through collaboration. We work closely with residents, families, staff, and health and social care professionals to ensure residents receive the highest standard of support.
Families remain an important part of our community, and we encourage their involvement in the life of the home. By building trusting relationships and maintaining open communication, we create a supportive and positive environment for everyone.
Our Values
Our work at Elm Lodge is guided by core values that shape the way we provide care every day:
Compassion – treating residents with kindness and empathy.
Integrity – acting with honesty, professionalism, and transparency.
Accountability – taking responsibility for the care we provide.
Respect – valuing each resident’s dignity, individuality, and choices.
Commitment to Continuous Improvement – continually learning and improving the services we deliver.

At Elm Lodge Care Home, our commitment is to ensure every resident feels safe, valued, respected, and truly at home. Through compassionat
