About Us

Wallfield House is a home in the Findern area of Derby, which can accommodate 15 residents - it has a 'Good' rating from the CQC. Wallfield House also offers the following short stay services; respite care and discharge to assess. Each bedroom is different, we are not a purpose built care home. The home is a large house built 200 years ago and converted approximately 35 years ago.

Here at Wallfield House Residential Home, our core values are based around recognising that it is, first and foremost, the home of all the Residents.
With staff providing support and care, we always respect that we are visiting the Residents’ home, rather than Residents living in a workplace. We provide a warm, homely and caring environment to ensure that each Resident feels secure, happy and safe in the knowledge that well trained, friendly, caring staff are there to support and enable each Resident to live a fulfilled and happy life. Full details of our core values can be found in our Statement of Purpose.

We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional, person-centred care and to ensure that we achieve this, we have full control over the decisions we make as we are a family-run company.

At Wallfield House, the activities are not regarded as a schedule but as a day to day living experience. We offer both group and one-to-one activities and hobbies, tailoring each experience to the individual Resident. We encourage regular exercise through enjoyable activities which is proven to reduce falls and we also have external entertainers who visit. The local GP visits the Home when needed and we have weekly visits from our Community Matron. We can arrange other professional services to visit in-house such as opticians, dentists and chiropodists to ensure that our Residents healthcare needs are met. Many other services also visit including a weekly hairdresser.
Many people coming to live in a Care Home have often lost the joy of eating for differing reasons; social isolation, inability to prepare their own food and loss of motivation. Here at Wallfield, we take the time to get to know each individual, their likes, dislikes and specialist requirements. Whilst most of our Residents enjoy the social occasion of mealtimes, laughing and chatting, some of our Residents prefer to eat privately, it really is their own choice. Mealtimes are an extremely important part of a Resident’s day, our food is home-made, using local, fresh ingredients wherever possible. There really is no limit to adapting an individual's menu to increase their health benefits through nutritious, enjoyable food. Menus are changed regularly with the Residents encouraged to be involved in the choices offered.

As we get older the risk of dehydration increases. At Wallfield House, we have made it our mission to do all possible to prevent this from happening. Of course whilst there are endless amounts of hot and cold drinks on offer, we are always thinking of new ways to encourage our Residents to increase their drinking whilst enjoying the experience. Fresh fruit combined with ice-cream, double cream and fortified milk liquidised to create a nutritious milk-shake is an absolute favourite with residents, for example.

If you need any further information then please do not hesitate to us, we would be happy to discuss any needs and requirements and give you further information with regard to Wallfield House, such as our excellent relationships with external healthcare professionals, the support we offer to our residents on an individual basis, staffing, our home made food, the importance of hydration and social activities etc.

Kind regards from
The Wallfield House Family
