Residents, families, and friends are actively involved in shaping life at St Mary’s Nursing Home through meetings, surveys, and feedback cards. Family involvement is strongly encouraged, with open visiting and the option to share meals or attend appointments alongside their loved ones. Staff work collaboratively and continue to build on best practice in infection prevention and control, Ongoing training and professional development are prioritised so the team can confidently meet resident’s diverse physical, emotional, and cognitive needs. This has helped foster a strong sense of trust and security among residents, which is especially important for those living with dementia. Our home offers a comfortable, homely environment with personalised bedrooms and easy access to bright communal areas and well-kept gardens. We place high value on nutrition and mealtime enjoyment. Mealtimes are an important social occasion within the home, providing opportunities for residents to connect, engage, and enjoy a sense of community. We have enhanced the quality and variety of meals, and resident’s dietary needs are regularly reviewed in partnership with health professionals. Social activities remain a key part of daily life, including events, themed days, and one-to-one sessions.
