About Us
South Highnam is a care home in County Durham, providing residential support for up to eight adults with autism, learning disabilities, Down’s syndrome, epilepsy, mental health needs, and low levels of challenging behaviour. The property features eight bedrooms across two floors, two of which include en-suite facilities for private personal care. The people we support can enjoy communal spaces such as a lounge, a kitchen-diner for socialising with friends and family, and a large garden with a pond, offering a tranquil outdoor environment.
The dedicated team promotes independence and choice for individuals and undergoes specialised training to meet their needs. Training covers areas such as buccal midazolam administration, manual handling, safety interventions, mental health awareness, dementia, learning disabilities, and active support strategies.
