About Us
Heathfield (Horsham) Ltd is a CQC registered Residential Care Home for the Elderly (over 65s) and it was originally built in the 1880s, first opening its doors as a School for the Daughters of Gentlemen. Between the wars, it became a hotel but it's true transformation started in 1955, thanks to the extraordinary generosity of three local Horsham residents, Elspeth Polly, Arnold Page, and Joyce Knight. These individuals purchased the building and created a charitable trust to ensure that older people in the community could access affordable, compassionate care in a place that felt like home.
Nearly 70 years later, Heathfield continues to operate with the same ethos:
• To provide a warm, supportive environment
• To keep our room rates affordable with no hidden costs
• And to make sure that every penny goes back into care, not profit
The Home is managed by a dedicated team of Volunteer Trustees and a Senior Management Team, who convene monthly as a Committee to ensure the highest standards of care are provided. We charge only what is necessary to cover operational costs, which means that we don't make a profit by design.
