About Us

Robin Hood House is a residential care home in the area of Little Gaddesden, part of the scenic 5000 acre Ashridge estate. This listed building is set within an area of outstanding natural beauty and a conservation area protected by the National trust. Robin Hood House dates back to the 16th century and was once owned by the 3rd Duke of Bridgewater, famous for building the Bridgewater canal in the North East of England.

This 22 bedroom home also has a reception lounge, a large lounge opening up to the landscaped gardens and a smaller lounge/dining area for those requiring more private space. There is another dining room for larger groups. This house has an abundance of character and charm.

The staff team offer specialist care for older people, including those living with dementia. The staff are all from the local area and deliver care in this warm, friendly setting. The manager, Lorraine has coached and mentored the team and together they provide true person-centred care with empathy, understanding and respect.

Home cooked meals are served every day in one of the intimate dining rooms and a number of different lounges are available for the residents to use.

There are a variety of activities and events as chosen by the residents themselves. For those wishing to stay a little closer to home, a dementia friendly garden was completed in 2013, which allows residents and their families the opportunity to relax and reflect in beautiful surroundings whilst also being safe and secure. Deer and squirrels are often seen in the extended grounds.

For those wishing to venture further there are dementia friendly community clubs in addition to many walks through the estate, country pubs and villages.
