About Us

As part of the Jewish Community in the NE we carried forward a 50 year tradition of the care for our senior citizens in the Joel Intract Home in Sunderland when we opened Philip Cussins Home as a registered residential care home in Linden Road, Gosforth in 1996.

In recent years we have welcomed residents of all faiths and no faith. We are committed to the belief that while our residents may have retired from work, maybe lost a partner, reached an august age, be a little frail, life is still to be lived and enjoyed. PCH, as we call it, is situated in a leafy part of Gosforth in Newcastle upon Tyne. It has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Our dedicated and caring staffs provide 24-hour care and attention for our residents. It provides peace and privacy when you need it and companionship when you are looking for it. It is a good place to find old friends and to make new ones. We are always pleased to see visitors. It is a place where you can make your own family and friends welcome when they come to see you. The house itself, originally an elegant Edwardian house, was totally refurbished prior to its opening in with nearly all its bedrooms with en-suite facilities and showers.
Outside there are very pleasant gardens, lovely for sitting in on sunny days. The shopping centre of Gosforth High Street with any number of boutiques and cafe's and Gosforth Park are within walking distance for most residents. The two synagogues are not far away as well as local churches. Inside there is the atmosphere of a Jewish home with all its festivities, while the religious and spiritual side of life is provided for those who seek it.

The staff and many volunteers from the local Communities are there to help you lead your own life, sharing a full programme of activities, as you choose. You can also enjoy the leisure and cultural activities of Newcastle and the wonderful countryside of Northumberland and Durham for days out.
