Overview
Moriah House is situated in the heart of the Nottingham suburb of Carlton, less than two miles from the centre of the city, with all its shops and amenities. Since 1980 it has offered its residents high quality care and accommodation in a warm and relaxed setting. The home provides accommodation for those who still wish to be independent as well as those who may need a little more attention and looking after. We have been and remain proud to be very much part of the local community and look forward to continuing to care for its residents for many years to come.
Moriah House has grown in size since it started life as a care home and is now able to offer a home to fifty residents. Our bedrooms are light and brightly decorated, and many contain ensuite facilities; they make an excellent start for residents to create a room of their own. We encourage everyone to bring their own favourite possessions, perhaps treasured photos, a special chair or those little mementoes that bring back warm memories.
With four individually styled lounges and warm conservatory areas there is plenty of choice for residents who want to sit and relax, or perhaps have a chat with a friend. The conservatory style dining room is particularly popular with everyone who enjoys the light and warmth it affords even on duller days. For anyone who likes the outdoors we have two patio areas, the larger of which is attractively planted with pots of flowers during spring and summer, and the smaller patio is a real sun trap when the sun shines.
Anyone who has ever visited Moriah House will tell you that it is one of the happiest homes they have been in. The manager and all the staff work really hard to create an environment where residents can enjoy life to the full, and become part of the strong community atmosphere that makes the home a special place. We want everyone to feel part of a loving and caring community where nothing is too much trouble. This is not only comforting for those who live at the home but also offers peace of mind to relatives and loved ones.
Achieving this does not happen by chance. We have an experienced staff team at Moriah House who have all been chosen not only for their professional experience but also for the warmth and compassion of their personalities. We want everyone to feel they are being looked after with dignity and respect and that their wellbeing is our top priority. It goes without saying that all our staff are committed to making sure that time spent with us is as happy as possible.
Needing care as we get older should not mean that we miss out on enjoyable occasions and we want all our residents to continue to experience the fun things in life. Quite a lot of laughter usually forms part of everyday at Moriah House, especially when our residents take part in some of the many activities that we plan with them. Every day brings something different to be involved in. Whether a resident likes puzzles, a game of cards, a sing song or perhaps some gentle exercise, there is always something for them to enjoy. We also enjoy trips out and have started to arrange these again post pandemic, so that everyone continues to feel part of the vibrant community surrounding the home.
At Moriah House we believe that mealtimes and good food are important. Lunchtime is often when friends get together for a chat, and lunchtime can be a lively time with the constant bubble of conversation. All our food is cooked using good quality ingredients and we work hard to produce a balanced and nutritious menu. We also recognise that everyone likes a treat and so if there is something a resident particularly fancies, perhaps an old favourite, then our cooks will do their best to put it on the menu.
We hope that you will enjoy a visit to Moriah House and we are available at any time to help you with making the right care choice for you. Please do not hesitate to call us and ask for our help.
