Overview

Purley House is a home in the Purley On Thames area of Reading, which can accommodate 3 residents.

Purley House understands that additional needs or learning disabilities can impact heavily on young people and their transition into adulthood and independent living. Finding secure and good quality accommodation as well as gaining and sustaining employment may be difficult.
At Purley House we can offer day to day support to our young adults to help stabilise their lives on their journey. For some this may mean feeling content and well, for others they may want to maximise life opportunities whilst dealing with the challenges that planning and preparing to be independent can bring to care leavers.
We help by encouraging young people to think about their own strengths and abilities, and support them to identify any changes or areas of development they have to take control and reach the goals they aspire to.
Our service provides personalised support to individuals in a person centred approach to gaining and developing independent living skills. Our dedicated support team offer support to gain the living skills required to make that successful transition while working to support needs arising from learning disability and/or individual diagnoses.

Purley House offers a wealth of personal and functional care and associated domestic services to meet the needs of each young adult. This will include personal care which will promote independence and develop skills which will only benefit each individual in taking the next step to living in their own homes within the community.

Care is provided in partnership with young adults, the placing authority and where appropriate, relatives, respecting their diverse needs, preferences and choices.
Our service aims to provide a supported transition to independence for young people with support appropriate to any young person’s specific learning disability needs. The aims and objectives for each individual placement can be entirely bespoke and will be built around the needs of each referred young adult. The referral process begins with information provided by the Placing Authority and will also include a meeting with the referred young adult to allow an assessment of need to be completed and ensure we can meet the requirements of the young person and support them to successfully develop and maintain independent skills.
