Coombe House is an Outstanding-rated (CQC) residential care home, delivering exceptional, person-centred care in a warm and genuinely homely setting. Nestled in the picturesque village of Streatley, near Reading and Newbury in Berkshire, the home is ideally situated with excellent transport connections to London and across the South of England. Family-owned since 1988, Coombe House combines experience with a deeply personal approach to care.
We offer both long-term residential care and short-term respite stays, supporting older adults to feel safe, valued, and truly at ease. Our dedicated team—many of whom have been with us for years—provide consistent, compassionate care, fostering trusted relationships and a reassuring sense of familiarity.
Residents enjoy comfortable, well-appointed en suite rooms, with the flexibility to personalise their space with their own furniture and even pets. Each room is equipped with modern amenities, including WiFi, TV points, and call bells for added peace of mind.
Coombe House features a wide range of thoughtfully designed facilities to promote wellbeing and independence, including beautifully landscaped gardens, an on-site hair salon, engaging daily activities, and regular group outings. Dining is centred around choice and comfort, with a varied menu, protected mealtimes, and the option for in-room dining.
Additional services include escorted appointments, laundry, newspapers, podiatry, and a comprehensive programme of enrichment to support everyday living.
We accept self-funding, local authority, and NHS Continuing Healthcare placements, with weekly fees ranging from £1,550 to £1,700.
