About Us
Bonhomie Oaklands Park is a residential service with private apartments within a shared communal, supported environment. Each apartment is bright, spacious and has its own lounge, kitchenette and en suite bedroom.
Our primary focus is to provide care and support for those with complex needs. A person with complex needs may have a combination of disabilities including sensory impairments, acquired brain injuries, communication difficulties and mental health issues.
To address the urgent need to improve transitions from in-patient mental health settings to the community, we have developed Oaklands Park as a unique environment to facilitate the needs of people that fit in between traditional residential or supported living services. We acknowledge that when transitioning people from inpatient to community settings it can be particularly difficult for people with multiple and complex needs who are often working with several teams. If mental health, social care and forensic services fail to work in an integrated and collaborative way, transfers can be delayed, meaning people remain in hospital unnecessarily and lose the coping skills they need on discharge.
We work with people to build on their strengths, skills and resilience, helping them to develop their own set of resources to self-manage and stay well. When they feel ready, we help them to progress towards more independent living. This might involve making the move from 24-hour residential care to supported accommodation, or to their own flat.
