Overview

Situated on the outskirts of Mansfield and Alfreton, Normanton Lodge has been providing high-quality care since 1971. A fine period building, the original home has been modified and extended and now has the Glen Care Village attached with a large reception area which is also part of Normanton Lodge. We now offer accommodation for up to sixty-seven residents. We aim to provide a caring and comfortable environment, whilst recognising that everyone is an individual with their own needs, wishes, and interests. Getting to us is easy as the home has excellent access to both the M1 and the A38 and we are only a few hundred yards from all the amenities offered by the East Midlands Designer Outlet shopping centre and food court.

We offer a choice of lovely bedrooms including rooms with kitchenette in the Glen, all individually and tastefully decorated to offer residents an excellent start to creating a special place of their own. We encourage everyone to bring their favourite personal items with them, so that their room becomes their own home from home. Often this includes treasured possessions such as photos or ornaments, or perhaps even a favourite piece of furniture; our aim is for everyone to feel settled and comfortable, surrounded by familiar mementoes and things they love.

Lounge and dining facilities are, in part, provided by the original part of the home, and its fine rooms make attractive places to sit and relax. We have a very large reception area suitable for visits or private parties, or it can be used to catch up with friends. We also have a few quiet lounges for those looking to take a more reflective moment.

We believe that it’s important that all our residents stay healthy and active for as long as possible. Contributing to this are the large number of shows and events that we organise each week in conjunction with resident suggestions. Music is often heard in the home and we also run gentle exercise classes, as well as helping our residents stay mentally sharp through playing games and puzzles. Whatever someone’s interest there is bound to be something for them. We also have an activities lounge for all residents to enjoy

Trips out are also an important part of our weekly routine, and our residents particularly enjoy going to garden centres or to some of the many local beauty spots that we are able to visit, as we are close to the Peak District and many other attractions.

All of our meals use good quality ingredients, including fresh fruit and vegetables, to create tasty, nutritionally balanced dishes that everyone really looks forward to. There is terrific choice on our menus but we also understand that sometimes our residents would like something special. If someone fancies a particular dish or a special treat, then they just have to ask our chefs and they will put it on the menu.

Helping put all this in place and organizing the high-quality care that we deliver all year round, is a dedicated staff team. They are committed to making everyone’s time with us as happy as possible, and our resident’s wellbeing is their top priority. All our care staff have considerable experience in providing excellent care, no matter what the level of need, and they always complement a professional attitude with warmth and compassion so that people are looked after with dignity and respect.

Part of recognising everyone as an individual is working out exactly what care is right for them. We take time to talk to our residents, and their families, in order to create a personalised care plan that reflects not only their needs but also their personality and lifestyle. We regularly review these plans to ensure that all our residents are receiving the care that they need, want and deserve.

We hope that you will enjoy a visit to Normanton Lodge and we are available at any time to assist with making the right care choice for you. Please do not hesitate to call us and ask for our help.
