Overview
Parr Care Home is a purpose built home with 59 bedrooms, one room has facilities to be a double bedroom if required. We are registered to accommodate 55 Nursing clients and 5 residential clients.
All staff have had training in palliative care which includes aiding the patient and family in coming to terms with the prospect of death and providing assurance that their end of life decisions will be respected and that relief of symptoms will be our priority.
All rooms are spacious and 24 have en-suite facilities.
The home has been established since September 1994 and is built over 2 storeys and is situated in a residential area of Parr close to local amenities and is served by an excellent bus route.
We have a hairdressing/complementary therapy room and a regular visiting hairdresser, a chiropodist visits on a regular basis funded by the N H S and a private chiropodist will visit if required. A physiotherapist also visits those who have been assessed as needing this service.
All diets can be catered for and a varied menu is offered on a 4 weekly cycle plus a good choice of alternatives to the set menu.
Residents and families are encouraged to participate in three monthly formal reviews were their views and wishes are documented and were appropriate acted upon.
Regular bi-monthly group residential/relatives meetings take place and ideas are exchanged and decisions can be made regarding activities within the home.
We work closely with General Practitioners, community services and hospital staff to maintain our residents well-being and we are currently using a pathway of care called THE GOLD STANDARDS FRAMEWORK. This pathway helps us ensure our residents live well and plan in advance their wishes and preferences.

Additional Information
- GOLD STANDARDS FRAMEWORK. The Gold Standards Framework (GSF) is a UK-based program designed to improve end-of-life care by helping healthcare providers deliver high-quality, proactive, and person-centered care. It provides training and accreditation for generalist frontline staff across various settings, ensuring that individuals receive consistent and compassionate support in their final years of life. When explaining GSF in the context of the Care Quality Commission (CQC), you can highlight how it aligns with CQC’s fundamental standards for care, particularly in areas such as person-centered care, dignity, safety, and good governance. GSF helps organizations meet these standards by promoting early identification of patients in need of palliative care, coordinated care planning, and reducing unnecessary hospital admissions. We have been accredited using this framework since 2010, we are required to re-accredit every 3 years to mainitain compliance.
